Blurred Reality Yay. Finished my vid! This song is called Through Glass, if you hadn't already guessed that, by Stone Sour. I chose the title Blurred Reality for a couple of reasons. One being that when an actor plays in a movie or a show, they're only pretending to be someone they're not. It's like having a piece of chocolate wrapped in a pretty tinfoil, only to have a less satisfying chocolate on the inside, not meeting up to the tinfoil's standards. The other reason being, that when you're intoxicated, everything seems more blurred together, creating what you see of reality at that time. Search engines used Google, Google Images, Google News Photobucket Different files in my computer that had old pictures that I had NO idea I had. Meaning of the song In my own opinion, I'm not truly certain what the meaning of this song is. There's some debate on whether it talks about when the singer, Corey Taylor, was an alcoholic. The glass that he refers too is his beer glass, he is unaware of the time because he is drunk, but to him it feels like it's been forever. "Sitting all alone inside your head" I think means when he's drunk, he has some time to think about what's been going on with his life and what he's doing there. The other meaning to the song would be that when you're 'looking at someone through the glass', you're looking at them for who they truly are, and not what they're pretending to be. To me, I think the song could mean either of these, or both. Types of figurative speech There isn't too much figurative speech in the chorus, but I guess the 'glass' could be an image in the representation sense. Same with 'sitting all alone inside your head'. The line "When something like a soul becomes initialized And folded up like paper dolls and little notes " is a personification, indicating that the soul can be folded up into paper dolls and little notes, which is virtually impossible. "An epidemic of the mannequins" is also an image in the representation sense. It gives you an image that everyone is the same, no originality. "Null and void instead of voices" depicts that the person can't hear the sounds and voices of the people around them, or choose not to. The stars refer to celebrities, on how they 'shine' on movie screens and televisions, when they're 'lying' to you, because that's not who they really are.
