Oftne the process of realization (I speak as a gay man) is agonising and painful and all one really wants is to be straight like everyone else. why it happens that some are gay and some are straight is unclear, but it could be genetic or cultural, or a bit of both, Either way, I don't think there is a moment when one "decides", more often a moment when one can no longer help but "realise" that one is gay.
