Draaiorgel's in Holland, filmed by Raymonde Grimmett PT 1 This is the first part of an intensive video filmed by the late Raymonde Grimmett in 2003. This was to be the last video Ray Filmed before his death and although he died before youtube became popular, because of his love of the Dutch Street Organ, he would have been a regular poster of his video journeys. Andrew Pilmer's Open Day 2003 This is a real gem of a film, all recorded at Pilmers open day back in 2003 up at Rufforth York. The organ used to belong to Len Coles who had it as a Gavioli, but whilst restoration was taking place, they discovered the origins. Just how rare is this organ, any ideas???? Memories of Stourpaine Bushes GDSF 1985-1989 I have managed to extract some older films of the old Stourpaine Bushes Great Working of Steam. From 1989 we see Nixons 92 key Jimmy Verbeeck concert organ, from 1985 the late Duncan Price with his 89 key Black Forest Gavioli which now resides in Germany, from 1987 the 68 key DeCap "Lucy", moving onto 1989 sees the 68 Key Bursens which was owned by my one time friend David Ellison who was part of the then called "Sussex Six". The S. Six comprised of Ray Tombs, Norman Hobbs, Arthur Mantle,The Jessett Brothers, Les Searle and David Ellison. They all owned organs back in the 1970s and stuck together accross rallies around the south of England. I was attached to Ray Tombs as a keyframe operator for the Mortier "Maritime" and his Golden Marenghi, which was later found to be only one of half a dozen genuine built from scratch 72 key Carl Frei Dutch Street Organ, but played with all the registers wedged open, does sound like a Fair Organ. Anyway, enough of that, the last film is from 1989 and shows the 48 key Page and Howard "the four seasons" the year Chris Edmonds first bought the organ. Memories of Tarrant Hinton GDSF This video compilation is from 1992 and is the Great Dorset Steam Fair at Tarrant Hinton. First off is a 52 key J. Verbeeck street organ, second organ is the now not seen in public 92 key Mortier owned by Jean Watts. I believe the organ is never taken out of the yard now which is a huge shame. The next organ was owned at the time by Willhelm Kelders, way before the Locomotion and Victory was even a glimmer in their builders eyes. Here we see the Penny Rigden dancers in front of Roger Bourville's 101 key Mortier "De Kluisberg", you will notice that Penny Rigden is still dancing in this year. Moving onto what is certainly the most famous sight at Dorset during the 70s, 80s & 90s, Whites 98 key Gavioli illuminated on the Saturday night, but this was when this organ along with the A&R Marenghi, graced the main drag by the vintage Fairground. Memories of Stourpaine bushes & Tarrant Hinton There are quite a few "firsts in this selection. This is No1 showing the first visit of the newly revamped Gavioli owned by the late George Brackstone. The organ used to grace the centre of Jimmy Williams Gallopers in the 1970s, and at once stage even played in the switchback now at Dingles. It was known as the Switchback organ. I believe it was Mr Brackstone who instucted Deans of Bristol to completely change the organ into this large 90 Keyless version. Why i will never know as it never did play well. I understand the organ is up in Scotland now. Also this was the first Time Saunders provided a stage show, something we all now take for granted.
